Why Keywords are Important in Writing Articles

by Sandy Fe

When writing an article that you want to appear in a search engine, it is important to be aware about keyword densities. In various search engines, they have spiders that will detect that a keyword is placed on the article you've written. The moment one user types the keyword you've made, your article will come out.

What is a Keyword?

A keyword is a word that is going to be placed in your article several times, not just once as that would make every word a keyword. When a spider sees that you have a word placed several times in an article, it will determine that your page may be useful to users that search for such a keyword.

Over Optimizing Your Articles

However, placing keywords also have rules. There are writers trying to provide so many keywords in one article. This is called 'keyword stuffing'. When the spider detects that you're trying to stuff keywords, it will penalize your article and can even blacklist your site. When that happens, your ranking will also be affected in other pages and your article and even your site could no longer be seen as a result of stuffing keywords.

What is Keyword Density?

Keyword density is how many times your keyword is placed in your article. Most use a percentage to determine how many times they will put a keyword in an article. For instance, if you have a 500 word article and want to achieve a keyword density of 5%, then you will need to have the keyword in your article exactly 25 times.

A lot of guides in the internet are available to help you determine the recommended keyword density for each of your articles. Each writer or webmaster has their own technique in determining their own keyword density. The bottom line is not to over optimize your articles with so many keywords to avoid being penalized and blacklisted. Make sure that your goal is to attract more readers, increase your rankings and earn profits whilst following the terms of search engines. Once you are aware of that, it is up to you to choose the amount of keyword density that you prefer.

The Right Density

As long as you're not breaking any rules, placing keywords within the recommended amount of density is definitely important in order for you to captivate the interest of many readers.

If you have the recommended keyword density, it won't be long before you'll be lucrative in your article writing job. With sufficient keywords, search engines will prioritize more on your article and internet users will get to see it easily.
